Endurance Endurance rider Karen Jones has represented Great Britain on two occasions. The first time was in 2004 in Guingam, France when Karen was on the Intermediate Team riding Mellow Jazz. The second was riding Macadamia in 2011 at the European Open Endurance Championships in Florac, France. This competition is known as one of the toughest competitions in the world and is a staggering 160km long. Another horse that Karen Jones has competed at International level is Dancing Ruzala. In 2010 Karen and Dancing Ruzala came 3rd at the 160km Red Dragon Endurance Ride.

Karen is dedicated to providing the best care and training for her horses and has bought horses back into good condition to give them the opportunity to compete at International level. Karen bought Macadamia, a pure Arabian gelding not knowing whether he would make it as a successful endurance horse. For some of his life, Mac had lived under the Gatwick Airport flight path and developed a respiratory disease due to being allergic to the aviation fuel. When Karen first saw Mac she instantly liked him. The clean air of the Devon Hills has enabled Karen and Mac to have a successful career in Endurance so far and he has a wealth of FEI successes to his name. They were also invited to join the EGB Elite Squad in 2009. Karen describes Mac as a horse with a work ethic that is “second to none”. He is also very naughty and loves carrots, polo’s and taking a chunk out of his crew!
