Tranz Lozenge Eggbutt Or D Ring?

12th March 2019

Question

I have a 5 year old TBxArab, he is very slight and sensitive.  He has been slow to develop and grow and is sensitive to everything – saddle, brushes etc!  He is light and giving to ride but when I moved onto the Myler 02 Comfort Snaffle Bit he became fussy with his head.  I would like to have him more comfortable with his bit.  I am interested in the Tranz Angled Lozenge Eggbutt or the Tranz Angled Lozenge D Ring but not sure which to try and I am also unsure of the difference between the codes 8023 and 8022.

Suggestion

Heather, one of the bitting advice team, would suggest between the two that the 16mm diameter would be most logical– which would be the Eggbutt 8023-E – as the degree of sensitivity you describe would benefit from more weight bearing surface and the 16mm is a happy comfy medium.    Even without the dish Arabs usually do have a lower upper palate.  Another logical choice would be the hanging cheek (the Baucher) as the fixed cheek design may be beneficial. The two codes 8023 and 8022 refer to the product and the thickness of the mouthpiece – so 8023 is for the 16mm Tranz Angled Lozenge and the 8022 is for the 14mm Tranz Angled Lozenge.
