Show Pony With A High Head Carriage.

12th March 2019

Question

I have a Welsh Section C mare that my daughter shows at Novice level in the Mountain and Moorland classes in a Wilkie Snaffle at the moment.  The pony isn’t strong and has a good welsh action, but can be spooky and carries her head high so my daughter struggles to keep her round and also finds downward transitions can be ‘messy’. I need something that is still ok for Novice level showing which will help her to come round and keep it!

Suggestion

The logical choice in this instance would be the Neue Schule Pony Beval .  This should help your daughter   to keep her pony rounder and in a more consistent outline. This combination of cheek and Tranz mouthpiece is very popular in the show ring in order to promote roundness and a softer more sustainable contact.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any more questions of if you would like a suggestion for her once she moves out of Novice classes.
