Andrew Heffernan

Eventing

Andrew Heffernan is a British based Dutch Olympic eventer, based at Somerford Park in Cheshire. Andrew has competed on the Dutch Eventing team at the London Olympics and the European Championships in 2011 as well as a number of large national and international events.

As well as competition riding Andrew also has a good reputation as an instructor at both junior and senior level. Andrew has been around and riding horses for about twenty years and has always loved eventing. In 1997 he was 3rd in the national Championships and in 1998 was shortlisted for the World Three Day event Championships.

Recently Andrew and Boleybawn Ace competed at Chatsworth International Horse Trials and came eighteenth in the CIC***. Andrew rides Boleybawn Ace in the NS Jumper’s Choice. Andrew finds this gives him more help than an ordinary snaffle. Andrew’s top tip is to always be patient and take your time. “Don’t cut corners but produce the horse properly and you will reap the rewards at the end”.
