Biography

My experience with horses is over 30 years of horse ownership and at present, I have three horses; two ex racers and a Hanoverian. My bitting experience started when I worked alongside Heather Hyde (Neue Schule Ltd) firstly as part of the original bit bank and then helping to build Neue Schule for over 6 years. I have broadened my bitting knowledge extensively since I set up Horse Bit Hire in 2009. I’m the proud winner of the Neue Schule Bitting Advisor of the Year two years in a row and stock selected other brands too.

I run the bitting advice line on a daily basis and offer bits for sale and hire/trial from my website and via mail order. I also carry out Bitting Consultations throughout the country from my base in the north east; please see the Bitting Consultation page on the website for further information. My customer base is very diverse from top level dressage combinations, show jumpers, happy hackers (like me!) through to rescued driving ponies; my reason for doing this job is to try to make each horse as comfortable as possible taking everything into account and providing the owner with the best bitting advice I can. My ex racer Woody tests every bit I stock and I don’t sell anything that I wouldn’t try on him; he is my benchmark for comfort and communication.
